I was going to gut out my closet in my room to make out of a booth right. I need some foam for that. But I'm not sure where to buy it for a cheap price. I mean I'm not trying to spend like 7 buck for a 2x4 which is what I'm seeing right now. It has to be a cheaper price floating around out there right now.

Not only are you going to need some foam but you are going to need some heavy black curtains to redirect sound. If you live in a quiet place then you won't need to sound proof your booth.

I think that you should always sound proff your booth no matter how quiet it is. Depending on your mic, you will pick up the smallest sound. All that extra editing to me, is uneccessary.

Speaking of closets, I've thought about trying to record in our walk-in closet. It's basically packed with clothes and it sounds really dead in there.
Obviously that would be a really makeshift approach.
I've been surprised how little room noise I've had with a Shure SM58.
