If I'm trying to make a beat should I use a beat machine as well as a keyboard or should I just use to beat machine by itsself?

Go to a recording studio mate, they usually have a whole array of options you can use.

Some people aren't able to move through a recording studio unfortunately. You don't have to use both. You an use one or the other. It depends on what you are trying to do with your beat. If you want to add a piano to your beat then you can use a keyboard and use the beat machine for something else. IT just all depends I guess.

You can do more with a beat machine than you can with a keyboard.

I'd try to get both, the keyboard can be good with more mellow tones as well as you can do more as to multi tasking.
