Alright heres the top 10 West Coast hip hop figures that have really represented their music well and done good for the name of West Coast hip hop. When your talking West Coast hip hop, one of the major strengths has to be the unstoppable beats.-And that will be a huge factor here. The following list will contain solo artists along with some hip hop teams as well. Enjoy!
10.Knocturnal-Some will question this, but Knocturnal has made so many tracks hot that I had to put him on the list. One of my favorites that i must point out would have to be the Dre hit off of the "the wash" soundtrack, "Bad Intentions" In which Knocturnal was featured on and did a simply amazing hook that really put the finishing touch on the song. Another thing i like about this guy is his extremely catchy voice. It gets you hooked from the start and really helps this guys appeal. Anyway, I like this guys style and thats why he earns the number 10 spot on the list.
9.WC-This guy was involved in the hardcore west hip hop team "Westside Connection" and is really a great rapper mostly because of his unbelievable flow and catchy voice tone. Almost every single westside connection song was hot in my eyes-and this guy helped out that factor a lot. Sure, Ice Cube took the main stage and was kind of the leader of the group, but behind Ice, this guy was always spitting hot verses. WC earns the number 9 spot.
8.Nate Dogg-This guys voice was made to recite a chorus for west coast hip hop. I mean seriously, how many countless hits by West Coast rappers have featured Nate Dogg doing the chorus? Waaaaaaaaaay to many to name. So instead, I'll just name the first single from Tupac Shakur's latest album "Loyal to the game" titled "Thugs Get Lonely Too" in which Nate Dogg chants the chorus and really makes the song-as he did with a lot of hits back in the day. And, as Snoop Dogg says, you know its a hit when Nate Dogg's on it........so true. This guy has added the finishing touch to so many songs with his sweet voice, that he earns the number 8 spot on the list.
7.Xzibit-This guys truly rugged voice helps him out even more appeal-wise. This guy has some big west coast hits as well, and is one of my personal favorites. A few tracks I'd like to mention are "X" which was the lead single off of his most successful album "Restless". And had a beat that never got old. Another true west coast hit was a song off of his album "Man vs. Machine" titled "Multiply"-featuring-guess who?-Nate Dogg. And was my favorite track for awhile. This man had always been a hardcore west coast guy, and represents his music well, thats why he earns the number 7 spot on the list.
6.Westside Connection-The first of two west coast hip hop teams here that included artists Ice Cube, WC and Mac 10. Both did an excellent job with this hardcore team, and definitively did a lot of good for the name of West Coast hip hop. Their albums included hardcore dissing to the east coast hip hop empire, and a lot of bouncy beats. One of my favorite hip hop teams ever, and they deserve the number 6 spot on the list.
5.Ice Cube-Hardcore west coast rapper here that is one of my favorites. Ice Cube had so many unforgettable hits.-And i loved them all. His albums were definitively heavy on the disses to east coast rap-so if your a east coast hip hop fan, i suggest you don't pick up any of his CD's. His voice is very catchy and intense, one of those that will have you calling in to the radio station and requesting his songs. Anyway, definitively a very mentionable name when it comes to west coast hip hop, as he was with two west coast hip hop teams, [N.W.A. and Westside connection] and also had a solo career.
4.Snoop Dogg-Its nuthin but a g thang baby! Snoop was untouchable along with Dre back in the death row days....and is a huge name when it comes to West Coast hip hop. So many hits........impossible to name them all. Simply impossible. But it is notable that Snoop is starting to have a more worldwide-appeal due to his new smoothed out style that [sorry to say] is leaking just a little into pop music. . But when Snoop was a hardcore Gangsta, he had a ton of unforgettable west coast hip hop hits.-And is a absolute legend in the west. Snoop was one of the biggest representatives out there for west coast hip hop, and he represented it well.
3.N.W.A.-One of the most hardcore West Coast hip hop teams EVER here. I mean how can you fight with songs and titles like the huge hit "F*** the police" not to mention a ton more hits to go with that. The most notable [in my opinion] of the group was the number 5 spot-holder Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre. These guys were a huge part to the west coast hip hop empire, and thats why they earn the number 3 spot on the list.
2.Tha Tha Tha Tha the docta.........Dr. Dre earns the number 2 spot here........and i bet most people were predicting this. I mean how can you possibly make a list of honorable names in the west coast hip hop world and not mention this guy? Produced countless hits for his solo work, various hip hop teams, and other west coast hip hop acts by the plenty. True legend here.......he's gettin old, but his work will live on forever in the name of west coast hip hop. Dealed with various problems in his life including his brother passing away from street violence, and of course the death of west coast legend 2Pac. But always seemed to get over the hardships and continue putting out stellar West Coast hip hop tracks.
And the number one West Coast hip hop figure of all time is...placing first for the second time in one of my top 10 lists......
1.2Pac-Did very good for the name of west coast hip hop and the world while he was here. Did a whole lot for the west coast hip hop empire, may i point out the mega hit with dre that showed how much this guy loved the west, "California Love" A legend, in not just west coast hip hop, but the entire name of hip hop.
Well there's the top 10 best west coast hip hop figures that represent the west the best. Hope you enjoyed
